The farming community has today welcomed confirmation that all 46,000 applicants to the ACRES scheme will receive payments this year.
The announcement was made yesterday by Minister Charlie McConalogue following a huge interest from farmers across the country which will now see farmers receive an average payment of €7,000.
Initially, only 30,000 applicants were to be accepted, but many in the community questioned how the department can decide who would receive payments and who wouldn't.
