The winners of the second annual Cathaoirleach’s Awards will be announced this evening at a Presentation Ceremony and Dinner in Breaffy House Hotel in Castlerbar.
There is great excitement in the build up to tonight’s announcements as groups and individuals from across the county have been shortlisted across the various categories and the winner in each category remains unknown until later this evening.
The awards recognise the unsung heroes that exist in every local community and who represent the best of Mayo; the individuals and groups that work quietly behind the scenes to make our communities stronger, more vibrant, and caring.
The Awards will recognise 12 winners across eight different categories tonight.
The Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Counci Seamus Weir will present specially commissioned trophies, hand crafted in Mayo, to the winners in each category.
The winners will also receive a bursary to use for their community work.
Proceedings get underway at 6.45pm
