Many farmers across the region are still unsure if they will receive grants under the ACRES scheme this year.

That's according to IFA National Chair of the Rural Development Committee Mayo's Micheal Biggins, who was among those to meet with Department officials last week.

At the meeting issues surrounding the over subscription to the ACRES scheme was raised and the department were told that all farmers who applied must receive payments as soon as possible.

Additonally, the IFA delegation say that changes are needed on closing dates for the TAMS scheme to allow successful applicants to begin construction this year.
