The road outside Scoil Raifteiri in Castlebar has re-opened to traffic, after a cyclist was hospitalised following a collision last night
Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of the collision ,involving a car and a cyclist, that occurred about 10pm on the Springfield road outside Scoil Raifiteiri.
The cyclist was taken to Mayo university Hospital where his condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.
The street in front of Scoil Raifiteiri was cordoned off to allow for a technical examination and traffic was down to just one lane. That caused severe congestion for early morning traffic.
The road reopened shortly after 11am.
