A Sligo councillor has today welcomed news that consultants have been appointed for the Charlestown to Sligo greenway.

The announcement comes following the allocation of €400,000 by Transport Infrastructure Ireland to develop the greenway further.

Independent councillor Marie Casserly says this greenway will provide greater tourism opportunities for the North-West region, and will be able to connect to the proposed SLNCR greenway from Sligo to Enniskillen.

Councillor Casserly told Midwest Radio's Alannah Nolan that not only will the greenway generate tourism in the region, but will also allow locals to enjoy a safe, scenic route to explore what the region has to offer....
