A Galway based Minister says she tried cannabis in her 20's but that the illegal drug was not 'for her'.
Government Chief Whip Hildegarde Naughton, who is Minister of State at the Department of Health, was speaking after the Citizens' Assembly on drugs was formally established by the Dáil yesterday.
She also confirmed she took the drug while in Ireland and has not tried cannabis since.
Minister Naughton says research shows people who experimented with the drug did not necessarily continue to use it.
Midwest News has contacted Minister Naughton for a statement and have not yet received a response.
