Mayo county council is to seek expressions of interest from private investors to develop a multi-storey car park at the Mill Street car park in Westport town centre.
Local Independent councillor Christy Hyland called on council management to try and address parking problems in Westport with a multi-story facility in the town centre and said that if the local authority was not prepared to provide the same then it should look for a private investor that may be interested in a long term investment.
The councillor’s motion proposing that expressions of interest for such a project should be put out publicly, was supported by all councillors present at this week’s monthly meeting of the West Mayo Municipal District.
