The Department of Housing says the latest increase in the homelessness figures are worrying, but have slowed substantially.
More than 11,600 people were accessing emergency accommodation during the week leading up to Christmas, according to the latest homelessness figures.
This figure also includes almost 1,600 families and almost 3,500 children.
