The remains of a man have been discovered in the Castlebar river, close to the new N5 roundabout at Turlough, this lunchtime.
Garda Superintendent Gabriel Moran says they are now awaiting formal identification of the remains.
He said the family of a man missing in the Castlebar area since Tuesday morning last have been informed.
