The Arts Council, the Irish government agency for developing the arts, has this afternoon announced its Arts Centres decisions for 2023. Funding totaling €9.5 million will be distributed to 42 organisations across all parts of the country.
Among the Arts Centres funded are 2 from county Mayo – The Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar will receive 255,000 euro while Ballina Arts Centre is to receive 55,000 euro
The purpose of Arts Centre Funding is to invest in and support the infrastructure of Arts Centres required to sustain and develop the arts in Ireland. Arts Centres support professional, collaborative, voluntary and amateur arts practice.
Two theatres in Sligo have also received funding today, The Hawks Well Theatre- 300,000 euro and The Model - 300,000 euro.
Four theatres in Galway have received funding, with three quarters of a million (750,000) euro allocated to Ealain na Gaeltachta Teoranta, 75,000 to Aras Eanna, Galway Arts Centre- 190,000, and the Town Hall Theatre 190,000 euro.
Roscommon Arts Centre has been allocated 160,000 euro while The Dock in county Leitrim is to receive 130,000 euro.
