This Christmas was a record year for the sale of books nationally.

The book as a Christmas present appears to have been more popular than ever and readers are enjoying a range of fiction and non-fiction publications.

Childrens Books have also sold well.

The Castle Book Shop, a relatively new store opened on Castlebar’s Main Street was just one of the busy book stores locally. It also offers customers the luxury of a coffee shop on the second floor and in addition sells knitting wool.

Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley was in the store this morning and spoke to the proprietor David Brennan and asked him if the national trend of a bumper Christmas of book sales also occurred locally….
