The National Local Hackney Pilot has been introduced as a grant programme to encourage new part time local hackney services in communities which could not support a full-time taxi or hackney operation,
The pilot has been launched by Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan TD with the National Transport Authority.
Designated areas included in the project are Killala, Carna in Galway, Elphin in Roscommon and Manorhamilton in Leitrim.
Member of the National Executive Committee and Constituency Spokesperson for the Green Party Dr Bláithín Gallagher has welcomed the new scheme.
