A local councillor has welcomed news from the HSE that Day care services are to fully resume at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Castlebar this week.
Cathaoirleach for the Castlebar MD Micheal Kilcoyne has received correspondence from the HSE that the service, which was reduced to just 3 days, will now resume to a 5 day service.
Additionally, the service will now move back to the original unit, which has been refurbished, from today.
Referrals will be assessed by the Clinical Nurse Manager and will be able to facilitate 30 clients per day.
Cathaoirleach Kilcoyne says for many people, this day service was the only outlet some people had and they were able to meet with friends and socialise, while for others, it gave their family members an opportunity to do tasks they might not be able to do while they are taking care of a family member.
