A collaborative piece of artwork by 50 glassmakers has gone on display at the National Museum of Ireland – Country Life, Turlough Park, Castlebar, Co Mayo.
The display is called ‘A Breath of Fresh Air – The Keep Well Glass Quilt Project’, and was created by members of the Glass Society of Ireland.
This project was undertaken during the 3rd wave of COVID-19 and subsequent 12 weeks of lockdown.
During the restrictions, glass makers came together virtually to collaborate on a large glass quilt.
Each glassmaker created their own piece for the project which displayed themes of nature, poetry, textiles, patters, mental health, capturing actual air and emotional responses.
