Mayo deputy Alan Dillon has requested changes to legislation regarding dog owners following the horrific injuries suffered by a young boy in Wexford.

He raised the issue in Dáil Éireann with the Taoiseach this week following the horrific attack on nine-year-old Alejandro Miszan who was playing football with his friends on Sunday last in a green area at the Old Forge Road, Milehouse, Enniscorthy.

The boy remains in a serious condition in hospital following the attack by the dog that was not under the control of its owner, nor was it muzzled.”

Speaking to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley the Fine Gael deputy said more needs to be done to target the owners of these dogs listed as dangerous breeds to be in public areas without a lead and without a muzzle.
