A €5,000 increase across the three income eligibility limits have been introduced for social housing.
The Government is set to increase social housing income limits by €5,000 across all bands and local authority areas from January 1st, 2023.
The limit in Mayo will increase from €25,000 to €30,000 for a single person and to €35,000 for a couple with up to four children. This will make more people eligible for Social Housing and HAP (Housing Assistance Payment).”
Westport based Independent councillor Christy Hyland says the news is welcome and overdue, after having remained stagnant for the last 11 years.
Earlier this year, some counties, Mayo not included, had secured increased eligibility limits and Mayo County Councillors have been insisting that it be extended nationally
Councillor Hyland told Midwest Radio’s Rian Bailey that the change is now welcome.
