Some tenants in Mayo are now faced with monthly rent of 1600 euro, others are experiencing rent hikes in recent months of up to a third, while many more people in the county are simply unable to find accommodation. That’s according to Mayo Sinn Fein deputy Rose Conway Walsh.
In light of these facts, the deputy has expressed her anger at a statement yesterday by the Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien in the Dail where he said he doesn’t believe that there is “a housing emergency in Ireland”.
Sinn Fein has labelled the government’s handling of housing as catastrophic, and deputy Conway Walsh says the Minister’s remarks are crazy and show that both he and this government are out of touch with the reality.
