Louise Cresham was warmly welcomed at Castlebar Circuit Criminal Court today on her first day in court as the new State Solicitor for Mayo.
Wishing Ms Cresham well on her new appointment, Judge Eoin Garavan predicted she will enjoy “a long and distinguished career”.
In a brief address to the court, Ms. Cresham said she is conscious of the standard of which the role as State Solicitor had been carried out by her predecessor, Vincent Deane and said she is looking forward to upholding those standards.
Ms. Cresham was applauded when she ended her remarks.
She replaces Vincent Deane who was recently nominated and approved by the Government for appointment as a District Court Judge.
A native of Castlebar, Louisehas been a practising solicitor since 2013.
She completed her degree in corporate law in Galway before she attended Blackhall Place and took up apprenticeships in the offices of Mairead Bourke and Vincent Deane.
