More than 40 children in Mayo are currently in emergency accommodation.
That's according to a presentation that was delivered to a meeting of Mayo County Council's Housing Strategic Policy Committee.
Figures presented to the meeting showed there are currently 47 adult and 43 children being housed in emergency accommodation throughout the county.
The meeting also heard that 95 people presented to the council as homeless last year.
Rising rents and the departure of landlords from the housing market are said to be contributing to the crisis, while people availing of HAP are now finding their rents out of reach.
