There are delays on rail services between Galway and Dublin today after an animal was struck by a train.

The incident occurred on a section of the line near Attymon Station in Galway this afternoon.

The 11:25am Heuston to Galway service and the 1:05pm Galway to Heuston services are held outside Attymon and Athenry respectively as a result.

Irish Rail said in a statement on social media that a crew has arrived on site to clear the line with additional equipment en route to assist.
