‘Lady of Knock’ has been selected as Ireland’s favourite hymn at the National Ploughing Championships 2022.
The competition was organised by Kildare & Leighlin Diocese and the result emerged as , ‘Lady of Knock’ as the most loved hymn that resonates with people at home and abroad, and has become synonymous with Knock and it’s unique history.
Written by Dana Rosemary Scallon in 1980, the hymn has been performed countless times at Knock Shrine during many important historic Masses and events, including during the visit of Pope Francis to Knock in 2018.
On the Knock Shrine website, sincere thanks is expressed to the people of Ireland who voted and also to Bishop Denis Nulty and the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin.
The Shrine then shares a performance of the hymn from Úna Nolan, Director of Music at Knock Shrine. It is Úna performing at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, New York.
