Motorists in Ballina and Westport are being encouraged to use the eparking app now available in both towns.
The app allows the motorist to pay for parking charges in either town through the use of their mobile phone.
The app was introduced by Mayo County Council on a pilot project in both locations some time ago, and has now become a popular method of paying parking charges in both towns. Cash continues to be accepted at the parking machines in both towns.
Eparking has been available in a number of counties for years now, and Fine Gael councillor Jarlath Munnelly is calling on Mayo County Council to introduce the app county-wide as soon as possible.
The success of the eparking app in Ballina since its introduction was outlined to councillors at the September monthly meeting of Ballina Municipal District.
Afterwards councillor Munnelly spoke to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley about the success of the app to date and the need to have it available across the county
