An extension has been opened to the already popular Bower’s Walk in Ballinrobe.  The Bowers Way was completed and opened up to the public, at Creagh Wood, just last weekend.

This new, over 6km trail, will allow people to walk/cycle from Ballinrobe to Lough Mask on a riverside walk which meanders under tree canopies and through beautiful grassland habitats.

A car park has also been developed at the entrance to The Bowers way, at Knocknakillew.

The project was funded by Mayo County Council through the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure scheme.

According to local Fine Gael councillor Michael Burke the project would not have been possible but for the generosity of the Cawe Family and Coillte in granting access through their lands.

Councillor Burke spoke to Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley along the new route and told her about the welcome new asset in the Ballinrobe environs…
