The newly established Ballyglass Market has provided a much needed hub for the rural community following the loss of numerous services in the area in recent years.
That’s according to Tomas Concannon of the Ballyglass Community Council, as the rural village prepares for their next market on Saturday the 10th of September.
Mr Concannon is a native of Ballyhaunis and is the brainchild of this monthly craft, food and art event in the Community Centre.
He moved to the village nestled between Carnacon and Mayo Abbey over a year ago with his partner Lisa and felt this was a good way of giving back to his new home place.
The village once boasted four pubs, a shop with a post office and a Garda Station, but has seen its facilities reduced to the Community Centre, Ballyglass FC and the local play and primary school.
