A Mayo man will tomorrow (Wednesday) make his seventh successive climb of Croagh Patrick this year.

Seosamh  Ò Maolchroin from Aughagower has already climbed the holy mountain six times since January.

Tomorrow’s ascent will be his penultimate trek to mark the deaths of infants, who entered the Tuam Mother and Baby home, the same year as he entered the institution in 1952.

The seventh climb is in memory of infant Josephine Teresa Staunton of Bohola who died in the Tuam home, just two days old, seventy years ago, tomorrow, ( 7th September, 1952).

Seosamh is extending an invitation to anyone who wishes to join him and take part in the climb to do so. He and a number of friends will be meeting in Murrisk car park at 11. 45am tomorrow morning and will begin climbing at 12 noon.

He is appealing to people in Bohola to light a candle tomorrow in memory of baby Josephine.
