Contractors from across Roscommon will descend on Ballintubber Castle this week for a series of traditional conservation classes.
Stone Masons, people involved in the conservation of heritage structures and people engaged in private conservation projects will all take part in the two-day event, starting Thursday.
Conservation works at Ballintubber Castle is getting underway, following investment from the Community Monuments Fund and Roscommon County Council.
It is hoped that this course will give community members a better understanding and engagement with the project, and of the medieval-inspired techniques involved.
Cllr. Anthony Waldron, of the Ballintubber Heritage Group has been telling Midwest News more about the events taking place at the castle this week.
