People aged 50 to 64 are to get a second MRNA booster vaccine.
The Health Minister Stephen Donnelly's accepted new recommendations from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.
A second mRNA booster jab will also be rolled out to 12 to 49 year-olds who have an underlying medical condition or are residents of long-term care facilities along with healthcare workers.
Children aged 5 to 11 who are immunocompromised are in line for a first mRNA booster vaccine, while those aged 65 and older will be getting a third booster vaccine.
NIAC made the recommendation to the Interim Chief Medical Officer who's endorsed these recommendations.
