Mayo Fine Gael deputy Michael Ring says he is now satisfied with the new turf regulations that are to be introduced.
Fresh plans by government to restrict turf sales but not to restrict the right to cut turf appear to have satisfied the strong opposition by back benchers in both Fine Gael and Fianna Fail to the initial proposal by government to prohibit the sale and distribution of turf.
Revised regulations mean people with cutting rights will be able to continue to sell or gift turf to family, neighbours or friends.
However the sale of turf online or in the likes of shops and petrol stations will be banned in a bid to improve air quality.
