The former Mayo TD and District Court Judge Séamus Hughes will be laid to rest on Friday.
Tributes have been pouring in since yesterday for the Westport native who was elected as a TD for Fianna Fail in the 1992 general election in the old three-seater West Mayo constituency. He lost his seat in the next election in 1997 when Mayo was reduced to a single five-seat constituency.
He was also a public representative on Westport Town Council and Mayo County Council for 16 years.
He served as State Solicitor from 2000 to 2009 when he was appointed a district court judge where he presided in District No 1 north Donegal and District No 9 Longford and Westmeath.
Seamus will repose at his residence this Thursday evening from 5 o'clock until 8 o'clock.

Requiem Mass on Friday afternoon at 3.30 in St. Mary's Church, Westport with burial afterwards in Aughagower Cemetery.
