Cabinet have signed off on approval for a number of major reforms to Community Employment, Tús and the Rural Social Schemes.
The purpose of CE and Tús is to provide long term unemployed participants with work experience in their local communities to help them find employment.
Among the changes is the removal of a six-year time limit for all participants on the Rural Social Scheme and eligibility for Tús has been extended to persons in receipt of Disability Payments
The new measures are in addition to previous changes earlier this year, which allow participants on CE and RSS over 60 to remain on schemes until retirement.
