Students will be able to earn more from summer jobs without losing eligibility for the SUSI grant under plans going to Cabinet this morning.
The holiday earnings disregard will increase from 4,500 euro to 6,552.
Higher Education Minister Simon Harris hopes this will help with skills shortages in tourism and hospitality over the coming months.
He's also bringing a memo to Cabinet to allow Ukrainian refugees greater access to education.
Under the plans they will be treated as Irish students and get access to financial assistance through the Erasmus scheme.
He'll also reveal proposals to accommodate Irish students who were studying in Ukraine.
