Water Safety Ireland, the Coast Guard and the RNLI have come together to issue a joint safety appeal for anyone heading to the seaside this weekend.

It comes as Water Safety Awareness Week draws to a close and the warmer weather increases right around the country.

79 people drowned in Irish waters in 2021 and emergency response groups are urging the public to do their best to keep the numbers down this year.

Kevin Rahill is the RNLI's Water Safety Lead and says people should learn the Float To Live method of staying alive when it trouble.
