Crews are on site in Castlebar today repairing a burst watermain on the outskirts of the town. 

Irish Water and Mayo County Council are working to restore the water to 40 properties in the Moneen area as quickly as possible. 

Repairs are expected to be complete by 4pm. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

Speaking about the repair works Ger Greally of Irish Water,  says a number of businesses are among those affected and Irish Water appreciate the patience of all customers as it works to repair the burst and return the water supply to all properties as quickly as possible.
