Two teenagers were arrested in Castlebar after allegedly being found in possession of illegal drugs.

Members of the Mayo Divisional Drugs unit in Castlebar town stopped and searched the two men while on proactive patrol.

During the search cannabis herb believed to be worth €15,000 (subject to analysis) was recovered.

The two men, aged 18 and 17 years, were arrested and are currently detained at Castlebar Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Members of the Mayo Divisional Drugs Unit continue to proactively patrol across the county and also act on intelligence and information from the public.
