Westport was announced as a runner up in the Digital Business category at the second annual .IE Digital Town Awards 2022.
The result was announced yesterday at a virtual awards ceremony attended by Minister Damien English.
The .IE Digital Town Awards were established in 2021 by .IE, the managers of Ireland’s online .ie address and recognise local town and community projects and the people that are using digital innovation, technologies, and digital-first thinking for the betterment of towns, citizens, and services in the community.
As runner up in the Digital Business category, Westport’s ‘Where no Westport business gets left behind’ won a total prize of €5,000 in recognition for working closely with a new e-commerce platform designed to support local business and connect communities.
Roscommon town’s project Roscommon Rapid Response Team won the Digital Changemaker catergory, securing 8,500 euro in funding, while Sligo secured the Digital Education Award for Online Learning Project Manager with a prize of 9,000 euro.
