A €30 million euro funding package for Postmaster has been announced by the Government. The one-off funding package will be rolled out over three years.
This is the first time an Irish Government has provided direct financial support for postmasters.
Postmasters are independent business owners contracted by An Post and run an estimated 900 post offices across the country. During the pandemic, many postmasters suffered financially as a result of lack of the public using the service in person, and many postmasters had to pay for overheads out of their pockets.
