The 2013 murders of well known and loved Castlebar brothers Jack and Thomas Blaine will feature in a documentary to be screened on TG4 next week.
Marú Inár Measc is a four-part true crime documentary series by Midas Productions, which shines a light on the effect that fatal crimes have on society, local communities and on the victim’s families as they are left without answers.
Episode 3 of the four-part true crime documentary series airs on TG4 on Wednesday next (June 1st) at 9.45 pm, recalls the brutal murders of Jack and Thomas Blaine on July 10, 2013.
Castlebar woke up to the tragic news that the brothers had been brutally murdered.
Alan Cawley was convicted of their murder in 2017.
The elderly brothers lived a quiet and simple life, cared for by the community surrounding them, and the tragic ending of their lives meant that the whole community of Castlebar grieved together.
The documentary includes interviews with the brothers’ family and members of the community, who cared for Jack and Thomas and give deeply personal accounts as to how this brutal and horrific murder has impacted them and changed the landscape of Castlebar forever.
Interviewees include Paul Dunne (Jack and Thomas’ cousin), Superintendent Gary Walsh, journalist Máirtín Ó Maicín, publican, undertaker and neighbour Rocky Moran, journalist Áine Ní Chiaráin, and Midwest Radio’s News Editor Teresa O’Malley, psychotherapist Seán Ó Tarpaigh and barrister Aoife McNickle.
