Lidl Ireland has announced the opening of its brand-new store in Claremorris, this day week, Thursday (2nd June). The new state-of-the-art store is Lidl’s fifth store in Mayo and will see a significant local investment of more than €6 million and will create 35 permanent jobs in the locality, bringing the total number of Lidl employees in the county to more than 130.
The store will also feature a reverse vending machine, the second of its kind introduced to Lidl stores, which will enable customers to deposit used plastic beverage bottles and aluminium cans in return for money-back vouchers redeemable in-store.
Lidl were the first retailer in Ireland to roll out a trial reverse-vending machine in September 2021. Following this initial trial period in Lidl’s Glenageary store, the retailer has selected Claremorris to be the site of their second machine.
As well as the introduction of the innovative reverse-vending machine, Lidl Claremorris will boast a modern store design that has a spacious interior layout with a new 1,500 sqm shop floor that has high ceilings, and wide aisles, which creates a comfortable shopping experience. This new store will feature a range of additional sustainable features such as roof mounted solar panels and electric car charging points.
Commenting on the opening Adrian Feerick, Store Manager, Lidl Claremorris says they are excited to open the doors next week and bring Lidl’s award-winning quality to the Claremorris community.
Lidl’s newest store will be open daily: Monday – Saturday 8:00am – 10:00pm, and Sunday 9:00am – 9:00pm from Thursday 2nd June 2022 at 8:00am.
