Reek Sunday is back in its traditional format this year.

It will take place on Sunday, July 31st, in a one-day format as distinct from the extended month-long event over the last two Summers in order to comply with Covid restrictions ensuring social distancing could be maintained.

Fr. Charlie McDonnell, the Administrator in Westport, says everyone is welcome to take part in the traditional pilgrimage and he says to the fore this year will be sustainability and ensuring the sustainability of the Holy Mountain.

Peace will be the theme of Reek Sunday 2022.

Masses will be celebrated on the summit on the hour, every hour, from8am to 2pm on Sunday, July 31st.

The 10am Mass will be celebrated “as gaeilge”.

Pilgrims will also be able to access confession on the summit from 7.30am to 2pm on the day.
