Many surgeries and hospital outpatient appointments will be cancelled tomorrow due to a strike notice being served on the HSE by members of Ireland's Medical Laboratory Scientists Association. MLSA are taking the action in a long running dispute over pay and unfilled posts.
The HSE has warned of serious service delays from 8am-8pm in all emergency departments tomorrow including that of Mayo University Hospital. The strike will then be escalated on two and three successive days respectively in the following two weeks if no resolution is made.
All routine GP testing services will be suspended with many inpatient and outpatient appointments across the country being cancelled as a result.
Hospitals began contacting patients directly yesterday and have asked patients not to phone the hospital at this time. Hospitals will provide further clarity and details as soon as possible and will be posting information and updates from hospitals on HSE.ie from today.
