Gardaí in Ballina carried out an operation in the town yesterday (Thurs) morning in connection with an alleged assault that took place in the Bunree area last Sunday,(May 8).

Gardaí became aware of a video circulating online of the incident and launched an investigation.

 Yesterday morning’s operation involved the search of a number of properties around the town. A number of electronic devices that are believed to have evidence of the incident were seized and Gardaí have spoken to some of the parties concerned.

Superintendent Gary Walsh of Ballina Garda Station said it was part of an ongoing operation into anti-social behaviour around the town. He says this type of behaviour will not be tolerated by the Gardaí or the citizens of Ballina.
