Four Mayo communities are representing the county in this year's National Pride of Place Awards.

Pride of Place is an annual all-island competition, organised by Co-operation Ireland, IPB Insurance and local authorities, which recognise the work of communities in  the 32 counties.

There are four Mayo projects involved this year - Ballina Community Clean-Up is in the over 5,000 population category, which Ballyheane is representing Mayo in the 300-1,000 population category.

Killeen, Louisburg is in the Community Wellbeing category, while the Cattle Raid Trail of Mayo is in line for the Community Tourism award.

The groups were nominated earlier this year by Mayo County Council, and representatives from each group will travel to Killarney for the awards ceremony on Monday night.
