A North Mayo woman who has been missing for over two decades and the murder of two Castlebar men are among those featured in a new series on TG4 which starts next week. Marú Inár Measc is a four-part true crime documentary which shines a light on the effect that fatal crimes have on society, local communities and on the victims’ families as they are left without answers.
The first episode of the series features the family of Killala woman Sandra Collins, who went missing on December 4th 2000. Sandra, who was 28 at the time of her disappearance, left her aunt’s house in Killala late on the night of December 4th to get dinner in a local takeaway and never returned. Her disappearance still remains shrouded in mystery and the search for Sandra almost 22 years on is still ongoing.
The third episode in the series recalls the brutal murders of Jack and Thomas Blaine from Castlebar 9 years ago. The elderly brothers were found dead in their home on the morning 10th of July 2013 following a fatal attack in the early hours of the morning. Alan Cawley, who was 28 at the time of the attack, was convicted of their murder in 2017 and sentenced to life in prison.
Midwest radio news editor Teresa O’Malley is featured among many well known journalists and experts who were interviewed throughout the series. Marú Inár Measc begins on Wednesday the 18th of May at 9:45pm on TG4 and runs for four weeks.
