There is a need for additional wardens or gardai to patrol parking in the residential areas around Hastings Insurance MacHale Park in Castlebar on days that big matches are taking place. That’s the view of Castlebar Fine Gael councillor Donna Sheridan.

The councillor raised the matter at a recent Castlebar Municipal District Meeting as she said that a number of residents living in close proximity to the Park found their driveways blocked during the first game of the Connaught Championship when Mayo faced Galway a few weeks ago.

In addition some supporters chose to mount footpaths and destroy grass verges in some estates.

Councillor Sheridan has been telling Midwest News Editor Teresa O’Malley more about residents concerns on “Big Match Days” in the county town..
