Make-A-Wish, is celebrating its 30th year of granting wishes to children throughout Ireland who are living with life threatening illnesses.
 
Today, the charity’s annual donation day is taking place.
 
Make-A-Wish grants wishes to seriously ill children who are living with life threatening illnesses.
 
Organisations and civic buildings around the country are marking the day by “lighting up in blue” in an effort to light up the darkness for every eligible child.

Buildings around the country are lighting up in blue today to give their support to the initiative, with landmarks to include Westport House, NUI Galway , The Convention Centre Dublin, and the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, among others.
 
A Castlebar teenager , Lucy, who develop a life threatening illness known as nephritic syndrome some years ago, is among the recipients of a very special wish from the charity.
Her mother Christine has been telling Midwest News about Lucy and how Make a Wish helped her when she needed it…
