2,837 new Covid19 tests have been confirmed today.
1,236 are PCR-confirmed cases, while 1,601 people registered a positive antigen test through the HSE portal.
477 patients are in hospital, which is a decrease of 55 on yesterday.
Case numbers are continuing to fall, with the latest figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre showing that, in the week of 10-16 April, case numbers fell by over 40% on the previous week.
The figures show that Mayo and Roscommon are among the lowest 4 counties in terms of new cases of the virus, with 253 new cases reported that week in Mayo and 125 in Roscommon.
Galway had the 4th highest rate of the virus nationally, with 746 cases over the 7-day period.
These figures relate only the PCR tests- not the antigen tests carried out at home.
