A post mortem examination is taking place this morning on the body of Russell Forde, who died after a serious assault in Sligo town.
Gardai believe he was the victim of a daytime attack at Rockmount Parade on Tuesday.
The 39-year-old suffered a head injury, and later died in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
He lived in Cranmore in Sligo town.
