The recent increases in toll charges are putting another burden on already hard-pressed motorists and should be reversed.

That's according to Galway East TD Sean Canney, who says motorists are already under pressure with increasing insurance costs, and fuel prices at an all-time high, and could do without a 5% increase in toll charges.

The toll charge increases came into effect at the start of the New Year, but the Independent TD says the private toll operators should re-think the situation, as they're also now making savings on wages, as the tolls are all automatic.
