Blanemore Forest Walk in Moygownagh will be closed to the public from 7th February for 8-10 weeks.
Coillte will be temporarily closing the walking trail at the e woods, to facilitate the felling and safe extraction of timber (via the south entrance).
Signage will be posted.
When harvesting is finished, ecological and amenity works will take place on the trail, including structural and safety upgrades, new seating picnic areas with improved access, while 20% of the replanting will be with native broadleaves mainly along the walking paths.
Moygownagh GAA club is asking the public not to visit the forest during the extraction works, but say they will be very welcome back to enjoy the new and improved Blanemore Walk, in April.
