New HSE guidelines on visits to nursing homes may lead to further uncertainty and inconsistency around visiting arrangements at some facilities.
That’s the warning coming from Sage Advocacy, who are alarmed that some nursing home providers may be denying residents the right to visitors.
The HSE's latest guidance, which comes into effect today, states that regular visitors should consider self-testing for the virus twice weekly, even if they have no symptoms.
It also states that occasional visitors should be advised to consider self-testing before their visit, even if they have no symptoms.
Sarah Lennon the Executive Director of Sage Advocacy told Midwest News that further clarification around the new Covid-19 self-testing recommendations is needed.
